How this is calculated
Total cost per unit adds FOB cost, freight, duty and tax, and other fees, all on a per-unit basis. Suggested selling price divides that by (1 minus your margin percentage), so the margin comes out correctly as a share of the final selling price.

The Landed Cost Calculator focuses on the total cost to receive a shipment. This tool is built for pricing decisions — it takes your fully-loaded per-unit cost and works out a selling price that hits a target margin, which the Landed Cost Calculator doesn’t do.
Is the margin based on cost or selling price?
This calculator uses margin as a percentage of the selling price (gross margin), not a markup on cost — so a 40% margin means 40% of your final selling price is profit, not that you're adding 40% on top of cost.
